About Us

Recognized for legal purposes as Lennox & Addington Horticultural Society · Est. 1895

President's Welcome

Welcome to the new and improved L&A Gardeners’ website. For over 131 years, the Lennox & Addington Horticultural Society promoted and shared the skills and art of growing vegetables and flowers while helping beautify our community. With renewed interest in growing our own food and caring for the plants in our yards, we remain as active as ever. Although horticultural societies are rooted in tradition, we have updated our name and logo to feel more welcoming to those who are interested in gardening. We are now known as L&A Gardeners, the same friendly group, still welcoming gardeners of all skill levels.

Here, on our new website, you'll find news, event listings, gardening tips, photos, and a convenient fillable membership form. I hope you enjoy exploring the site.

Feel free to attend one of our meetings or events. We look forward to seeing you.

Brad King
President, L&A Gardeners

Mission Statement

The Mission of L&A Gardeners is to support, encourage and promote sustainable, environmentally supportive gardening practices for its members and stewardship for the beautification of the landscape in our community and for the enjoyment of its residents. L&A Gardeners supports this mission by:

 Connecting new and experienced gardeners in monthly education and information-sharing sessions;

 Providing resources and expertise through a group of dedicated volunteers to develop and maintain gardens in the community;

Providing an annual award to a graduating student at Napanee District Secondary School pursuing post-secondary studies in Horticulture, Agriculture, Viniculture, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related field of study; and

Participating in the educational and awareness events provided by the Ontario Horticultural Association (OHA) and the Master Gardeners of Ontario.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge this traditional territory of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee and is home to many indigenous people from across Turtle Island. Long before today, the aboriginal people were the stewards of the land. We are grateful for the opportunity to be here, and we thank all the generations of people who have taken care of this land for so many generations. To acknowledge this is to recognize the long history and significance of these peoples whose practices and spiritualities were tied to the land.
